Road to 50

Week 5 (Dec. 11 – 17)

This week was a mess. Not my best performance, but there are many more weeks ahead. Here’s week 5:

Monday:

Rest Day!

Tuesday:

Training Plan: 4 miles, My Run: 4 miles

4 miles completed this morning with my family – Chris pushed the Blueberry in the stroller. I like days like this, where we get to share our favorite hobby together. This is also the one time our toddler doesn’t try to interrupt us, so we get to have good conversations when we run.

Time: 40:30, Avg. Pace: 10:04/mi, Elevation Gain: 278 ft., Splits: Mi 1: 10:14, Mi 2: 10:05, Mi 3: 9:58, Mi 4: 10:02

Wednesday:

Training Plan: 8 miles, My Run: 4 miles

This morning my plan was to run 4 miles with our GSP and then the next for with our Lab. After running the first four, my right calf was in knots and I didn’t have the energy to run with another hyper dog. I ended up deciding to nurse my calf and figured I could just run 8 tomorrow instead.

Time: 38:34, Avg. Pace: 9:36/mi, Elevation Gain: 278 ft., Splits: Mi 1: 9:25, Mi 2: 9:21, Mi 3: 9:37, Mi 4: 9:57

Thursday:

Training Plan: 4 miles, My Run: 4 miles

My calf was still pretty tight this morning, so I stuck with the 4 miles on my training plan instead of making up for cutting yesterday’s run short.

Time: 38:29, Avg. Pace: 9:35/mi, Elevation Gain: 278 ft., Splits: Mi 1: 9:12, Mi 2: 9:26, Mi 3: 9:33, Mi 4: 10:09

Friday:

Rest Day!

Saturday:

Training Plan: 20 miles, My Run: 0

We went to a Brooks employee Christmas party last night, so we woke up late (Brooks throws amazing parties!). As the day went on, I felt worse and Chris convinced me not to push it by trying to get a long run in.

Sunday:

Training Plan:  10 miles, My Run: 0

Definitely sick – no energy at all and just felt crummy in general. No running for me today.

Total Mileage this Week: 12 miles
